Set amidst the beautiful countryside of Hatfield Peverel in Essex is Cleverley Mere. It is a gravel pit of nearly nine acres and is nicely established with an abundance of features.
There is an island, reeds, weed, overhanging trees, gravel, silt and more. The depths range from four to eighteen feet giving both the fish and angler plenty of options.
The lake is home to some huge rudd, large tench, large perch, pike and, of course, carp. The biggest mirror in the lake is currently Hendrix with a top weight of 45lbs with the biggest common being Chester at a best weight of 45lbs 12oz. The total stock is around 80 carp with most of them being over 20lbs and over 30 of them being over 30lbs, six of which have been over 40lbs.
Cleverley Mere continues to go from strength to strength and has become one of the countries top big carp fisheries.
